With the first UHD BD discs on sale this week in the US, and discs available for pre-order in the UK also this week, (for sale from 11 April), the industry spotlight is on the format and its prospects.
Early reviewer feedback of UHD BD titles in the US is encouraging, with reviewers citing:
- “…. a noticeable upgrade from the 1080p Blu-ray.”
- “UHD is going to quickly redefine what excellent picture quality looks like.”
- “It’s an amazing refinement.”
In this context, MESA Europe’s upcoming Content Supply Chain Seminar on the 9th March is the perfect time to hear first-hand analysis and insights from those steeped in the format and to see close-up demonstrations of the discs. During the afternoon session at the seminar, senior executives from Sony DADC, from both sides of the Atlantic, will highlight some of the challenges and opportunities that UHD BD presents. In addition the event will provide delegates with one of the first opportunities in Europe to access the discs and menus, and check out the additional features in hands-on demonstrations.
The Content Supply Chain Seminar takes place at the Kensington Marriott Hotel in London on Wednesday 9th March, starting at 1.45pm (lunch available from 12.45pm).
