Alex Zane to present New Content Showcase at MESA Europe/BASE Entertainment Summit

Published August 18, 2016

BASE and MESA are proud to announce that presenter, writer and comedian Alex Zane will present the exclusive, dynamic and exciting content due for release in 2017 and beyond at this year’s BASE MESA Entertainment Summit.

Alex Zane is a presenter, writer and comedian. He began his career at the age of 18 when he became a finalist in SO YOU THINK YOU’RE FUNNY at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. A talented radio broadcaster, Alex began working at London radio station Xfm in 2002, and hosted the station’s prestigious breakfast show for 2 years. His radio show was heard by MTV producers, who subsequently signed him up to present shows such as SCREENPLAY and TRL, leading to Alex being co-presenter on POPWORLD.

Alex has presented many large scale music and film events, such as V FESTIVAL, WIRELESS FESTIVAL, GOLDEN GLOBES RED CARPET LIVE and OSCARS RED CARPET LIVE. Zane is also the face of Sky Movies, previously featuring in 35MM and the HARRY POTTER 3D SPECIAL, and he regularly writes film reviews for The Sun and Total Film.

Liz Bales, Chief Executive for BASE, said: “It’s great to have Alex on board, he is such a big film fan, from his work on Sky Movies to being a regular face on the red carpet at Premieres, making him the perfect fit for this year’s event. We can’t wait to share with you some fantastic and exclusive future release highlights. The category has something for everybody and it’s important that we celebrate and recognise this strong upcoming slate.”

The BASE MESA Entertainment Summit brings together two leading events from across the video category, the BASE Category Showcase and MESA Transforming Home Entertainment Summit to create the ultimate industry event.

Taking place in Central London on 7th September it is the only event of its kind in the home entertainment category, an essential event for retailers, distributors and those involved in the supply chain.

Last week BASE and MESA announced Marcus Arthur, President, UK & Eire; ANZ and Global Advertising, BBC Worldwide as the first speaker for the event. More leading speakers from across the industry will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
