There was clear agreement during yesterday’s Content Localisation workshop that improved communication and processes are needed to drive efficiencies in the face of shrinking release windows, tighter budgets and a growing number of file formats.
Better cataloguing of assets, and improved metadata will assist organisations across the supply chain to deliver against expectations and meet the changing industry needs.
It was clear from the discussion that a more ‘joined up’ approach between theatrical, home video and broadcast groups may help relieve some of the pressure as the industry strives to respond to a fast paced digital business, where quality and tight deadlines cannot be compromised.
Delegates from Apple, Google, Warner Home Video, Sony Pictures, NBC Universal, Entertainment One, Twentieth Century Fox, HIT Entertainment and the BBC participated in the discussion.
Mazin Al-Jumaili, UK MD of Gold Sponsor and localisation specialists BTI Studios, opened the session reviewing some of the key changes that have taken place and highlighting the current areas of industry focus. Additional presentations came from Fortium, Deluxe and Dolby.
“This was the third in the series of industry workshops organised by MESA and again generated very strong interest” said Jim Bottoms, Executive Director of MESA Europe. “We will be sharing the findings from the workshop with our International membership, Advisory Boards and attendees and look forward to hosting the next round of discussion and review of action points on this important topic area.”
