The European Content Rights situation was already in a state of flux, arising from the digital single market proposals, when the Brexit vote added further turmoil for those doing business in the UK.
Mark Lichtenhein, Chairman of the Sports Rights Owners Coalition, sits at the heart of many of the discussions taking place on content rights in Europe and we are delighted that he has agreed to share details on what is going on and offer some insights on how content rights are likely to be impacted by last summer’s referendum” said Jim Bottoms, Executive Director of MESA Europe.
One of the other high profile topics to be covered during the one day Content Protection Summit is Live Sports Piracy. The theft and re-distribution of live sports content is a growing problem, threatening the revenues of both the rights owners and their legitimate distribution partners around the globe. “Maybe because of the money now going into televised sport, the subject of piracy often falls on unsympathetic ears” said David Millar, Communications Director at MESA Europe. “That said, failing to properly tackle the problem will have major implications on content and rights owners in all corners of the globe and the ramifications will be felt way beyond the sports franchises and even their distribution partners” he added.
The 3rd annual MESA Europe Content Protection Summit takes place in London on 16th November, with a wide range of content security topics to be discussed during the day. In addition to the areas highlighted above, the programme will feature presentations and informed industry panel sessions on:
- Minimising Content Localisation Security Risks
